Description
Residents say what we’re looking at are not shrubs, but the very tops of trees submerged in the oil & diesel-filled slurry in Bayou Corne. The submerged trees are roughly the same size as the trees you seen in the background. Residents say the water is now continuously bubbling up and the air has a heavy diesel smell. Officials say the hole is approximately 381 feet deep and 372 feet in diameter. DEQ test results from water samples, show diesel and oil on the surface of the slurry. (Photos by Vernon Alleman)
